The City of West Kelowna's Parks Department is looking for a Seasonal Parks Operator II (Cemetery). This position plays a vital role in providing high-quality services to the Cemetery Operations.
This is a permanent, 8-month seasonal position returning annually March to November. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, totaling 40 hours per week.

Summarized Responsibilities:
The Parks Operator II (Cemetery) performs advanced tasks in maintaining and operating infrastructure at the cemetery, including landscaping, turf maintenance, tree care, irrigation repairs, fencing repairs, and building upkeep, while operating various tools and equipment, leading and assisting excavations for internments and cremations, using shoring boxes, may assist with pallbearer services, and training or directing other staff.

Our Ideal Candidate:
  • Grade 12 education
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in general construction, horticulture related work, equipment operation, or similar
  • Basic First Aid
  • Shoring and Excavating
  • Sharps Collection and Disposal  
  • WHMIS 2015
  • Class 5 BC Driver’s License with Heavy Trailer Endorsement

The ideal candidate has experience operating a variety of equipment and tools, including small tractors, chainsaws, jackhammers, compressors, tamping machines, snow blowers, weed eaters, lawnmowers, saws, and other hand tools. They possess the physical strength and stamina required to perform heavy manual labour outdoors in all weather conditions and have a strong understanding of safe work practices to ensure both personal and public safety. The successful candidate can work effectively both independently and as part of a team, communicates courteously with the public and coworkers even in high-pressure situations, and is available to work flexible hours, including shift work and emergency call-outs.
