REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5 years civil construction experience in landscape, carpentry, sidewalks, parking lots, irrigation, roads, street lighting and operating heavy equipment
- 2 years in a lead hand, foreman, or equivalent supervisory position related to Civil Construction (i.e. landscape, roads, sidewalks, water)
- Recognized courses in project management, stormwater management, construction management, construction safety, cost estimating, risk management, people management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Marine Operators License
- Pool Operators Certificate
- Certified Playground Inspector
- Basic First Aid
- WHMIS 2015
- Class 5 BC Driver’s License with Heavy Trailer Endorsement
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Class 3 BC Driver’s License with Air Brake Endorsement
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to interpret detailed construction design drawings
- Extensive experience operating a variety of heavy equipment and hand tools
- Ability to schedule, motivate and direct staff
- Proven leadership skills
- Ability to communicate with and direct employees for work/job assignments
- Ability to assign work projects and/or activities
- Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Good physical condition with sufficient strength and stamina to perform heavy manual work in the presence of all types of weather conditions
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to plan and prioritize effectively
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to coordinate daily assignments collaboratively with Parks Maintenance Foreman
- Able to courteously deal with the public and co-workers under stressful conditions and/or tight timelines
- Ability to work flexible hours, including potential evenings, weekends, shift work and emergency call outs
